Andrew Commis ACS is an award-winning Australian cinematographer whose films have premiered at all major international festivals including Cannes, Venice, Berlin, Sundance and Toronto.

His debut film BEAUTIFUL KATE was awarded the Australian Cinematographers Society’s highest honour, the Milli Award for Cinematographer of the Year.

Other credits since include BABYTEETH (AACTA award for Best Film), THE DAUGHTER (ACS Award of Distinction), THE ROCKET (Best Film at Tribeca), GIRL ASLEEP (Australian Film Critics Association award for Best Film), HIGH GROUND (Film Critics of Australia award for Best Cinematography), BLUEBACK (ACS Gold award), INSIDE (Australian Film Critics Association award for Best Film) and FORCE OF NATURE (Film Critics of Australia award for Best Cinematography).

Andrew is also the recipient of an Australian Film Institute (AFI) award for Best Cinematography in a Documentary, and has shot high profile television including THE SLAP which was nominated for an Emmy and Bafta, and more recently episodes of HALO for Amblin and Paramount Plus.

Andrew is a voting member for both the Academy Awards and the Emmy Awards. He studied at the Australian Film Television & Radio School in Sydney, graduating with a Master’s Degree in Cinematography. He has just completed photography on his 15th feature film, largely set and shot in Antarctica.
