Handpan Training

09:30am, Sat 7th Mar 2026 - 04:00pm, Sun 8th Mar 2026

This Introductory Handpan Training is a 10-hour, two-day program designed for yoga teachers, meditation practitioners, and individuals interested in integrating sound into contemplative and body-based practices. The training focuses on using the handpan as a supportive musical presence, particularly during savasana and moments of rest, rather than on performance or technical virtuosity.

Over the course of the training, participants are introduced to fundamental handpan playing techniques, including posture, touch, tone production, and hand coordination. Simple rhythmic and melodic patterns are explored with an emphasis on steadiness, repetition, and attentive listening within a group environment.

Special attention is given to the practical use of sound in yoga and meditation settings, including sensitivity to pacing, volume, and duration, as well as the relationship between sound, silence, and breath. Participants are guided in developing a calm and reliable musical presence that can support relaxation and transition into stillness in a class context.

No prior musical training is required. Professional handpans are provided for use during the training.

Upon completion, participants will have acquired a foundational technical and perceptual skill set suitable for accompanying savasana, relaxation phases, and personal contemplative practice.

Participants are asked to bring comfortable clothing, a notebook if useful, and a willingness to engage in focused listening and reflective practice.
