Join us in a luxurious warm water therapy pool in South Ubud, Bali.
In this 3-day training, participants will be guided through a rich learning environment that includes technical instruction, embodied movement practices, meditation, simple breath practices, and water play!
The Introduction to Healing Dance is designed to introduce both the practical skills of offering Healing Dance Aquatic Bodywork and the inner qualities needed to meet another person with presence, clarity, and care. Students will leave with a simple, meaningful sequence they can use to practice and embody the form.
In this course students will learn:
- A basic sequence for structuring practice sessions
- Foundational ethics of Aquatic Bodywork
- How to create safety, trust, and comfort in the water
- Suggestions for opening a session
- Body mechanics for ease, support, and sustainability
- Proper care and support for the neck and lower back
- A short history of Healing Dance
- Readiness to continue learning with Healing Dance 1
- Registration with WABA, the Worldwide Aquatic Bodywork Association
Introduction to Healing Dance is more than a technical training, it is a shared journey. As we come together to explore movement, embodiment, water, care for others, and care for ourselves, each group takes on a life of its own.
Students will experience:
- Teaching of core Healing Dance technique
- Embodied movement practices in the water and on land
- Meditation and breath-based practices
- Tools for self-regulation and nervous system awareness
- Practices for listening, attunement, and presence
- Opportunities to give and receive in a supportive group container
- Space to explore both technical learning and personal embodiment
There may be moments of bliss, joy, connection, and accomplishment, as well as moments where we meet emotional edges, technical challenges, or the vulnerability of learning something new. As the facilitator, my commitment is to create a supportive environment where participants feel held through the full arc of the experience, so we can begin and complete the journey together.

About Healing Dance
Healing Dance is an holistic, aquatic technique developed by Alexander George in 1993.
The guiding philosophy of the work is that movement is the "medicine" and in the experience of "received dance" the healing process in the body is activated.
Healing Dance is an holistic aquatic bodywork technique developed by Alexander George in 1993. Emerging from the rich lineage of Watsu and WaterDance, healing dance incorporates influences from ballet, yoga, Authentic Movement, physical therapy, meditation, and Hakomi. Over 30 years of development, Healing Dance has come to combine fluid movement, joint mobilization, deep embodied listening, and personalized touch, allowing each session to respond to the unique needs of the person in each unfolding moment.
The guiding philosophy of the work is that movement is the 'medicine' and in the experience of 'received dance' the healing process begins.
Healing Dance is a beautiful confluence of precise technique, somatic awareness, presence, and receiver attunement.
In Healing Dance, technique is not simply something we learn with the mind, it is something we embody. Students spend time developing clear, precise mechanics so that alignment, safety, and support become natural in the body. From this foundation, the practitioner can move beyond prescribed sequences and begin to truly listen. Healing Dance teaches us to read the receiver’s body, offer a gesture, feel the response, and adapt moment by moment. As technique becomes embodied, the work becomes both highly skilled and deeply intuitive, allowing each receiver to feel uniquely met, supported, and invited into deeper relaxation.
Meet your instructor, Jesse!
"If there is one purpose that guides my work, it is to help people relax. This is most joyfully expressed through my practice as a Healing Dance practitioner in Bali, Indonesia, where I also teach the Introduction to Healing Dance course.
My approach is shaped by a diverse movement background, including contact improvisation, freediving, flamenco and water dance. These disciplines inform a practice that emphasizes body awareness, technique, freedom of movement, and meeting one’s edges, always inviting relaxation and a sense of lightness in both body and mind.
As a teacher and facilitator, I am passionate about weaving together grounded attention, connection, humour and skill, creating a space where people can settle, trust, and move together in a shared experience.
Alongside my work in the water, I have spent the past 20 years building and running a regenerative urban farm and edible plant nursery in Victoria, Canada. This long-standing relationship with the land has cultivated a steady, embodied presence and a deep respect for natural rhythms. These qualities support the balance between structure and flow in my work with people in the water.
