This workshop is for anyone who is interested in the link between yoga, recovery from trauma and resilience. It will be of particular use to those teaching yoga and who wish to be sensitive to trauma, as well as those who wish to honor their individual needs within a group class.

What you will learn:

• Cause and effects of trauma
• Background to Trauma-Informed Care for yoga
• For the yoga teacher: Important considerations to support everybody (voice, music, queues, triggers, space, adjustments, modifications…)
• For the practitioner: Ways to modify, self-regulate and cultivate resilience whilst in class and how to apply this out of class
• Considerations when working with specific populations (refugees, addiction recovery, in conflict areas, survivors of abuse…)

Trauma-informed care in practice: Embody the wisdom shared through a physical practice

• Linked back to the first part of the workshop we will assimilate different styles of yoga into one class to reflect resilience, provide focus, calm the nervous system and restore

About Bex: Three years ago, Bex survived a fire that severely burnt her body. Through committed practice, she was able to recover her full range of motion. However, it took far longer for her nervous system to stabilize. In response, she has designed this workshop to share what she learned during her recovery and how every yoga class can be adapted to be sensitive to the invisible wounds of trauma. Bex has been teaching at the Yoga Barn for ten years.
