Portal x Nuanu - An Alternative NYE Experience
What is PORTAL?
PORTAL is an alternative New Year’s Eve experience.
A convergence of local talents in sound, image, and movement, it is a cultural gathering that looks back and ahead at once. Rather than chasing the usual frenzy of celebration, PORTAL offers space to reflect, reconnect, and reimagine. As a hub for experimental and contemporary expression, it becomes a living archive, a recap of what this generation has become, and a glimpse of what it may grow into.
PORTAL exists as a rhizome of artists and audiences, linked by curiosity, continuity, and collective momentum.
The Stages
SUMBU Stage — The Friction
Sumbu is where collision becomes creation. A laboratory of experimental music and interdisciplinary performance, where sound, motion, and image refuse to stay in their lanes. Live PA performances blur with kinetic visuals, transforming space into dialogue. Rooted in both nature and technology, Sumbu reflects Indonesia’s contemporary youth culture: inventive, critical, and self-aware. The future here is not imported, but invented.
DETAK Stage — The Pulse
Detak is the sound of resistance disguised as rhythm. A space where rave energy becomes reclamation, not escape. Movement turns into language, and the crowd into a collective voice. Detak rejects silence, division, and blind hedonism. Each beat negotiates between chaos and clarity, noise and meaning, channeling a generation seeking agency through sound, not to flee the world, but to reprogram it.
Together, Detak and Sumbu form a living ecosystem, a rhythmic, reflective, and generative map of Indonesia’s evolving cultural identity.
Connection
PORTAL is a moment of convergence. A celebration of community that connects people across backgrounds, reflecting who this generation has become and offering a glimpse of what it may grow into. Familiar faces and new ones gather to share the same rhythm, energy, and spirit of the night, not as spectators, but as participants.
