SACRED SOUNDS OF DHRUPAD
SACRED SOUNDS OF DHRUPAD
Witness Indian classical music performance with Dhani Gundecha and Dnyaneshwar Deshmukh.
Dhani Gundecha is one of India’s leading young Dhrupad vocalists, carrying forward the legacy of the renowned Gundecha Brothers, distinguished exponents of the Dagar lineage. An A-Grade artist of All India Radio, she has performed across India and internationally in the USA, France, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Canada, the Czech Republic and beyond. Rooted in the ancient discipline of Dhrupad, her singing is an exploration of breath, resonance, awareness and the subtle spaces between sound and silence. Through the slow unfolding of the voice, she invites the listener to arrive in the present moment—to listen deeply, soften inwardly and experience sound as a meditative presence.
Dnyaneshwar Deshmukh, recipient of the Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar from the Sangeet Natak Akademi and an A-Grade artist of All India Radio, is a distinguished Pakhawaj artist and senior disciple of Pt. Pandurang Appa Datar and the Gundecha Brothers. His rhythm carries both the grounding power and intricate beauty of Indian classical percussion, creating a sensitive dialogue with the voice. Together, Dhani Gundecha and Dnyaneshwar Deshmukh offer an immersive evening where Dhrupad, rhythm and silence become a meditation in sound—a journey inward through resonance, stillness and the transformative power of listening.
