Serenade
The concert features a collaboration between the Bali Chamber Music Players (BCMP) and guest artists Gia Jashvilli, Riana Heath, Asep Hidayat, and Lia Veronika. This special evening of classical music aims to raise funds for Be Sharp Bali, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing music education for children.
Be Sharp Bali offers free music lessons and instrument loans to children through the Suzuki Method, a philosophy built on the belief that every child can learn and reach their full potential in a nurturing environment supported by family and community.
Aligned with this mission, the Bali Chamber Music Players—a collective of devoted classical musicians living in Bali—work to enrich the island’s cultural landscape through high-quality performances. Comprising students, educators, and professional musicians, BCMP presents a diverse repertoire ranging from well-loved standard works to contemporary pieces. Their concerts support music education initiatives and contribute to ongoing fundraising efforts for Be Sharp Bali.
With the theme “Serenade,” the concert promises an evening filled with lyrical and romantic works designed to captivate and delight audiences.
A highlight of the program is the performance of Dvořák’s String Quartet No. 12 in F Major, Op. 96 “American Quartet” by world-class musicians Gia Jashvilli, Therese Wirakesuma (BCMP Director), Riana Heath, and Asep Hidayat. Written during Dvořák’s stay in America, this beloved composition features unforgettable melodies, a soulful “Bohemian blues” second movement, the lively birdsong of the Scarlet Tanager in the scherzo, and a finale driven by energetic syncopated rhythms.
The evening will also include Serenade for Strings, Op. 11 by Dag Wirén, short serenades by Malcolm Arnold—featuring guitar soloist Lia Veronika—as well as works by Toselli and Astor Piazzolla. Audiences will also enjoy a special performance by the children of Be Sharp Bali, showcasing their progress and dedication.
