Please Note

  • Open for all levels of practitioners and all ages. Either if you are an experienced ashtanga yoga practitioner or a beginner to yoga or to Ashtanga yoga— welcome.

  • Avoid drinking liquids during the practice. And please come on an empty stomach.
  • Women: It’s important that you don’t practice Ashtanga during the first 3 days of your period. Take rest. Inversions and backbends should not be practiced until the blood flow stops.

Class Etiquette

  • Please have a shower at least during the 24-hours prior to the class. - If you need to use bug repellent, please use only 100% non-toxic natural products.
  • Be mindful to maintain an introspective-silent atmosphere more conducive for meditation.
  • Switch off your phone during the practice time.
  • During led class THERE ARE NOT Q&A, unless urgent. You may ask your questions during the conference; or at the beginning of the class before starting.

About the Practice

The practice of Ashtanga Yoga is a system made known by Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois. It consists of a series of asanas (postures) which should be synchronized with the breath. This promotes the heating of the blood and thus the expulsion of toxins out of the body, throughout the sweat. In this manner, the purification of the blood, nervous system, internal organs and mind is achieved. As a result, with consistency of practice, the mind becomes lucid, clear and precise. Bringing equilibrium and internal peace.

The sequence of the postures is always the same. Each posture is a preparation for the following. This develops the necessary strength, equilibrium, balance and flexibility to continue.

Whether you are an established experienced ashtanga yoga practitioner, an adept yoga practitioner from other style or a complete beginner; practicing with Jaime will help you to strengthen your practice; deepening, improving and gently emphasizing your “Ujjayi Pranayama” breath; pointing your “Drishtis” (gazing point) finer; polish your “Vinyasas”, etc_._ It will also help you to build up and reinforce a daily discipline, being consistency a key element for making your practice sustainable, and thus see results.

You will also learn or improve when to inhale and when to exhale… emphasizing always the breath, the heart and most important aspect of the practice.

You will have the opportunity to practice with Jaime, that in addition to his over twelve years of experience on the field, is very passionate and detailed in transmitting the transformative gem of Ashtanga following the teachings of his teachers—which are, all of them, amongst the world’s top renowned teachers.

BIO - Jaime Couttolenc

Authorized Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Level II by Sharath Jois. With over 12 years of consistent yoga & meditation study and practice, Jaime is an experienced practitioner with a lot of dedication and discipline. He has been practicing Traditional Ashtanga Yoga since 2012 under the tutelage of his main teacher —and principal Ashtanga Yoga lineage holder in the world— R. Sharath Jois at KPJAYI & SYC in Mysore, India.

He has also studied under certified Annie Pace in Crestone, Colorado, U.S; certified Rolf Naujokat in Goa, India; amongst other teachers. He started transmitting this powerful system of yoga over nine years ago, in the beginning of 2014. Jaime has taught Ashtanga in México, United States, Switzerland, briefly in China & Indonesia.

He is a certified Cultivating Emotional Balance teacher trained by B. Alan Wallace, Ph.D.,— accomplished Buddhist scholar, teacher, writer and contemplative master with equally rigorous academic and scientific training; and Eve Ekman, Ph.D—behavioral scientist and burnout prevention (and daughter of the world’s eminent and renowned psychologist Paul Ekman, Ph.D., who is considered a world’s expert on emotion); through the Santa Barbara Institute of Consciousness Studies.

Jaime is also a certified Raw Food Chef from the well known Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center & Cousens School of Holistic Wellness in Patagonia, AZ, U.S. under Gabriel Cousens, (M.D). However, he began his self-studies of the extensive world of conscious eating a few years before personally studying with Dr. Cousens. Since 2012 he began cleansing his diet and researching, reading, self-experimenting and self-observing the relationship we have with food—as individuals and as a society. As well as doing different types of fasting and other cleansing & healing practices.

Having studied with diverse teachers & Tibetan monks of world prestige, such as H.H The Dalai Lama, Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, Alan Wallace Ph.D, etc; he is also very interested in furthering his buddhist studies and understanding. Which began in 2010 when he took his first course with Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche — “The Joy of Living”. Followed by a one-month long retreat in 2012 in Kathmandu, Nepal, at Kopan Monastery, called the “Lam-Rim” course, which translates as “The Graduated Path to Enlightenment” in Tibetan. (Amongst other teachings that he attended later on).

Jaime will continue expanding his teaching horizons; as well as continue studying with his teachers in different corners of the world. Looking to deepen his insight, practice and studies of different philosophies and traditions focused on an equilibrium between the body-mind-spirit complex… with emphasis on the development of consciousness.

Ultimately, Jaime is very committed to help for the benefit of nature and its beings. Since 2019, he lives in the jungle city of Ubud in Bali—“The Island of the Gods”.
